Who missed me?
Remember me?
In many ways it's been a strange few months. Lots of 'life' things happening, of which there are things i just I won't go into - that’s not why you are here. So while photographing has been a small part of the goings in in my world, it has been mostly incidental, and not really at the forefront of my mind. My day-to-day has been a tad overwhelming from time to time. I needed to take stock and reset in many ways, so this little corner of the internet was neglected.
Since late last year, I've been doing the 52 Frames challenge I've mentioned it before. Each week an assignment or theme is set, and the goal is to take a photo that fits the remit that week. I'm now on a streak of 36 in a row. I'll be honest there are more than a few streak keepers, take just to maintain that number and not get hit with a reset to 1. For now, my target is to complete a year. To be honest, the website where we post isn't hugely inspiring, however the small social group that has come out the membership has been the best part. A little gang of us from around the world that regularly converse and inspire each other in the challenge.
This year, I've done Selfies, Macros, Astro, Portraits, Light Painting (of course), Still life, Daytime Long Exposure, Infrared and Drone! Actually just creating that list shows that I've been stepping up to the challenge more than I thought!
Light Painting has definitely been a challenge in itself this year though. Not inspired to do what I think I do well, but that has changed recently, and I have been smashing out some lovely works this past week. More on that down below.
Not to bombard, I'll share a few highlights since January here, though I might stagger this first half of the year out into the next few communications. Go on, admit it, you didn't miss my ramblings!
Anyway, lets start with some Light Painting. Some Minimalist to get us going.
These were taken back in May for the weekly challenge. Negative space i think it was. Moving on swiftly, here are are a couple of Infrared from that trip to Adelaide back at the beginning of the year.
Princes Pier in Reverse.
I’m really very pleased with the colours and of this reverse sunset down at the Port of Melbourne. It was an impromptu shoot, grabbed the camera and and headed down there with this shot in mind. I took something so similar many years ago, this was another for the weekly challenge, Daytime long exposure. In simple terms, i use special filters, called Neutral Density (ND) Filters. Basically really dark glass. It allows the light in, but you need a long exposure to do so. That’s what smooths out that water, and gives that creamy feeling to the sea. those colours though, gorgeous.
And to keep it quick and to post this i’ll leave you with some more LP - these from just last week, so hot off the press, so to speak. As always…single shot in camera, no trickery or asking chat GPT for favours. It’s all me.
Anyhoo…Hit me up, write me back, share this nonsense with your friends…maybe i’ve made a return.
Be good.
